The Importance of Welding and Assembly in Building Steel Structures

Welding and assembly are key processes when it comes to constructing steel structures. It is crucial that welders have the skill and knowledge necessary to accurately weld the structure in all spatial positions, as any welded joints will be subject to ultrasonic testing. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at why welding and assembly are so important for building steel structures, and what kind of welding technology is necessary for optimal results.

The Requirements for Welders

Welders working on building steel structures must have the skills needed to perform their duties effectively.
This includes:

  • being able to weld in all spatial positions;
  • as well as having an understanding of the safety requirements for welding;
  • Additionally, they need to understand how to use an appropriate tool such as gas metal arc welding MAG/MIG equipment and oxygen cutter.

Welders should also be familiar with the different types of metal used in building steel structures, such as stainless steel or carbon steel. This ensures that they will get the best possible results when working with different materials. Additionally, they should be aware of any potential hazards associated with these materials so that they can work safely and efficiently.

Welding Technology/Welding Processes

To ensure quality control during the welding process, welders must use the right type of welding technology.
  • For example, shielded metal arc welding MAG/MIG (135/138)  is often used when producing beam structures due to its ability to penetrate deep into the metal without creating too much heat distortion or spatter.
  • Similarly, MAG/MIG (135/138) can produce high-quality welds with minimal effort due to its adjustable current settings and automated wire feeding process.
  • Finally, flux-cored arc welding MAG (136) can be used in tight spaces where access is limited due to its ability to easily travel around corners or other obstacles.

Conclusion:

Welding and assembly are essential processes when it comes to building steel structures, which means that skilled welders are key players in getting a job done right.

By understanding what type of welding technology/processes are needed for each job, welders can ensure accuracy while also staying safe and reducing costs associated with production time or material waste. With proper training and experience, a welder can confidently work on any project requiring precision welding techniques without compromising quality or safety standards.
